I've found you at last – together again after 50 years

Two sisters will meet after a separation of 50 years. Ruth Cable of Bristol, UK, said it will be an emotional reunion with her sister Gloria, who has lived in Australia for the last 30 years.

Gloria was separated from her sister and her brothers, David and Philip, after their parents got divorced. Their father, Harold, was left to look after four small children, but he couldn't manage with baby Gloria, so she was adopted.

Gloria's adoptive family emigrated to Australia in 1974. Since then she has repeatedly tried to find her family. Finally she asked a friend and ex–police officer Ted Jones to help. After some time he managed to find Ruth, who had changed her name when she got married. Last week the two sisters spoke on the telephone for the first time. "Talking to Ruth was so moving. It feels like I've known her for years," said Gloria.

Gloria is planning to spend a month in Bristol to get to know her brothers and sister.
