8. Language focus: Fronting.

Fronting
We can use question-word clauses at the start of a sentence for emphasis.
The grammatical term for this is fronting. Compare the two examples:
A combination of factors is what we are looking for.
What we are looking for is a combination of factors.

  • Do a role play of the first stages of a negotiation with your tutor. You will run the meeting. Imagine that there are other people present at the meeting, for example, the people you work with. Follow these steps:
    • Introductions and welcoming: introduce the people you work with
    • Setting the agenda: decide the agenda before the tutorial and set it during the tutorial
