T: Is Istanbul the capital?
IA: No, actually, Ankara is the capital now. Istanbul used to be the capital until the Turkish Republic was founded in 1923 and the Turkish parliament was set up.
T: Right. So where is Ankara? Is it near Istanbul?
IA: Well, it's about 450 kilometres by car, but there's a high-speed train that makes the journey in 3 hours 40 minutes these days. Ankara is right in the centre of Turkey and it's the second largest city, –Istanbul is the largest– and has a population of about four and a half million, compared to over 14 million in Istanbul.
T: 14 million! I didn't realise it was so big.

A castell? This is a human tower. They are quite amazing to see. The teams, or colles, are made up of people of all ages, from middle-aged people to teenagers and even younger children. The towers are constructed and dismantled very quickly, usually in minutes. There are different configurations but they can be eight or even nine people high. These traditionally occur in festivals in different parts of Catalonia. The tradition started in Valls, near the city of Tarragona, at the end of the eighteenth century. These days they are more popular than ever in most of Catalonia and in the Balearic Islands. In fact, in 2010, castells were declared by UNESCO to belong to the Heritage of Humanity.

The passive is formed by the auxiliary verb be + past participle.
This ice cream is made locally. (present passive)
