There is/are

Use there is and there are to say that something exists, or to describe where it is.

	Affirmative	Negative	Question
Present	There is a bank. There are some stores.	There isn't a bank. There aren't any stores.	Is there a bank? Are there any stores?
Past	There was a storm. There were some people.	There wasn't a storm. There weren't any people.	Was there a storm? Were there any people?
Perfect	There has been an accident. There have been some problems	There hasn't been an accident. There haven't been any problems.	Has there been an accident? Have there been any problems?
Future	There will be a test.	There won't be a test.	Will there be a test?

There is a table in the living room.
NOT: A table is in the living room.
NOT: It's a table in the living room.
