History of a building

The Wool House Hotel is a five-star hotel for curious and adventurous travellers who want to discover the true essence of this city.

The Wool House Hotel occupies the building of the former headquarters of the Wool Producers Guild, an emblematic 19th-century building in the neoclassical style, a landmark in the city centre, originally built for an industrialist family who had made their fortune in the production of woollen textiles. The building was sold in the middle of the 20th century to the Wool Producers Guild, which established its headquarters there with the aim of housing a number of wool-producing bodies and offering services to the industry.

In recent times, on the initiative of a group of local hotel promoters, the building commenced an intense refurbishment process, which culminated in January with the beautiful Wool House Hotel. The refurbishment project has taken great care to maintain and recover all the original elements and fittings of the building. Acclaimed interior designer Lorenzo Rosa-Viola was commissioned for the project and has done a marvellous job of reflecting a contemporary and sophisticated style, which at the same time incorporates all the functionalities needed to assure the luxury level of service and comfort that our guests deserve.

Many of the original elements of the building have been conserved, such as the impressive marble staircase, the original parquet and mosaic floors and wood panelling in many of the rooms, not to mention the embellished painted ceilings, floors and walls in some of the rooms. Now refurbished, this beautiful building, so full of character, history and elegance, can be appreciated and enjoyed by visitors to this wonderful city.
