New job
9 October 21:03

Hi Mum,

Last week, I started a new job in the café near my flat in Paris!  It’s not very well paid but it gives me some extra money for my trip this summer, and I only work three hours a day.  I start at 7:00 and finish at 10:00 so I have to get up very early, but the chef is very friendly and usually makes me a sandwich if I don’t have time to have breakfast at home. The job isn’t very demanding, but it’s a good way to practise my French.  There’s a bus stop next to the café and it only takes 15 minutes to get to the university, so I arrive before my first class at 10:30. I normally go to the library to study after my classes so I usually don’t get home until 8:00 in the evening.  After I have a shower and have dinner I’m really tired, and I often go to bed at 10 p.m. I never went to bed before 12 p.m. in England! Anyway, today I bought my plane ticket to London, so I can tell you all about the job and university when I see you in three weeks!

Love,
Patrick
