Sequencers are used to join ideas together.

Beginning	First,	First, we went to the supermarket.
Middle	then, after that, next,	We went to the supermarket, and then we went to the clothes shop.
End	finally,	We went to the supermarket, and then we went to the clothes shop; finally, we went home.

Next, after that and then can be used in any order.
