1. Pronunciation.

Word stress
The stress in a word is the part that we accent, or emphasise.
For example, in the word football, the stress is on the first syllable, foot.

 

Listen to, repeat and record the words. Pay attention to the correct stress in each word. Note: This exercise doesn't give feedback on the correct stress.

Listen to each word, and choose the correct stress pattern. Then listen again, and practise saying the word.

2. Phrasing and pausing.

Listen to and read the description. Select the word before each pause.

Now select the pauses in this description.

Now practise reading the description aloud.

3. Speaking.

Listen and follow. Then read and record the description at a medium speed. Imagine you are explaining to a friend.

3. Saying sentences.

Listen, and put the sentences in the order that you hear them. Then listen again, and repeat each sentence at the same speed as the example.
