A: Hi, Sally! Guess who I saw at the bus stop today?
B: Who?
A: No, you have to guess.
B: Oh, I don't know ... George Bush?
A: No, no, someone you know ... or someone you used to know.
B: Not Andy?
A: Yes!
B: Wow! And how was he? Did you talk to him?
A: Yeah – not for long though, 'cause the bus came.
B: So tell me what happened.
A: Well, I was just walking past the bus stop and I noticed this guy standing there, and he looked familiar, so I looked again and....
B: And did he recognise you?
A: Yes, after I said hello. Anyway, he's fine, doing well. He's living in Bondi now, and working in the city.
B: How did he look?
A: Well, he's shaved off his beard, which made him look pretty different, as you can imagine.
B: Yeah, he must look really nice without it.
A: Yes, he does. And he was on his way to work, like I said – pretty different from his student days, carrying a briefcase and looking very professional.
B: A briefcase – hah! Remember that old rucksack he used to carry? It was so old it was falling apart, but he wouldn't give it up.
A: Well, he has now! And not only that, but – you won't believe this – he was wearing a suit!
B: No!
A: Yes, and it looked good, too. So, he's not the Andy we used to know any more – he's changed so much. But he was very friendly and anyway, he gave me his phone number and said that we should get in touch.
B: Did he ask about me?
A: Well, not exactly, he just said, "How's everyone from the old days?"
