I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux and combines Mary Shelley's classic monster story with a Gothic fantasy involving gargoyles and demons fighting to control the world.

The film begins where Mary Shelley's classic story ends: Aaron Eckhart stars as the creature made of body parts from different dead people and brought to life by Dr Frankenstein. When the scientist realises that he can’t control his creation he tries to kill it, but the monster survives and kills the doctor.

The creature is then attacked by demons but the gargoyles arrive and protect him and bring him to a Gothic cathedral, the headquarters for gargoyles, led by Queen Leonore (Miranda Otto).

The story then moves to the present and the monster helps the gargoyles in their fight with the demons who plan to destroy the human race. The creature finds himself caught between the two sides, which are both trying to discover the secret of his immortality.

Written and directed by Stewart Beattie, I, Frankenstein suffers from an unoriginal plot, too many chaotic battle scenes and boring dialogues. Even a big star like Aaron Eckhart can't make this film come to life. Because of the combination of humourless dialogue, unbelievable plot and repetitive special effects, there is not a lot left to enjoy in this film.
