Constructive stress

1. Constructive emphasis.

Practise saying these sentences with the correct emphasis. Repeat after the recording.

1.	Maybe you don't remember, but I did tell you there was a meeting today.
2.	You're not going to fail the exam, but if you do fail you can take it again.
3.	I don't think I've got her new number, but if I have got it I'll phone you.
4.	We probably won't go shopping today, but if we do go we'll get the paper for you.
5.	I'm not sure he'll like it, but if he does like it I'll cook it again next week.
6.	I don't think you've met him, because if you had met him you'd know who I was talking about.
7.	She doesn't speak any foreign languages, but she did study French when she was at school.
8.	She doesn't generally eat meat, but she does eat chicken from time to time.
