Deductions

apparently / it seems / it appears, etc.

1. Making deductions.

Look at other ways to say the same thing:

Apparently the photos were taken by her husband.
It seems / It appears that the photos were taken by her husband.
= The photos seem/appear to have been taken by her husband.

Complete sentence B so it has the same meaning as sentence A.

Deductions

We can make deductions about what we see, using look and seem.

It looks like they are swimming.
It looks as if
It seems like
It seems as if

They seem to be swimming.

2. Describing appearances.

Respond to the following questions, like this:

"Do you think they are swimming?"
"Yes, it looks like they are swimming."

or
"Yes, they seem to be swimming."
