Karl: Hello, I'm Karl.
Jane: Where are you from?
Karl: I'm from Australia.
Jane: Oh, really!? Whereabouts in Australia?
Karl: A place called Brisbane. Do you know where that is?
Jane: No. I know where Sydney is, more or less. Is it near Sydney?
Karl: No, it isn't. It's in the north of Australia. It's on the east coast, at the bottom of the state of Queensland. It's the capital, in fact.
Jane: Oh, I see. Is it a nice place? What's it like?
Karl: It is nice. It's quite a big city, built on a river. And it's nearly in the tropics, so it's very hot in summer.
